 Chilled cast iron - processing features

(1) Chilled cast iron and wear-resistant alloy cast iron are typical hard brittle materials with high surface hardness. During rough machining, the unit's cutting force reaches 3000 MPa. Strong impact can easily cause vibration and tool wear.

(2) Chilled cast iron is often used to make various rolls. The size of the structure and the machining allowance are large. Large cutting depth and feed amount are required for turning. And the strength of the cutting tool and the rigidity of the process system are required to be high.

(3) Chilled cast iron and wear-resistant alloy cast iron have high hardness and high thermal strength. Especially for large parts, the temperature of the tool is very high when the cutting tool is working for a long time, and then it will be easy to cause cutter body deformation.

(4) The surface structure of the chilled cast iron is white, very  hard and brittle. When the tool is cut into or cut out, it is prone to collapse, resulting in waste or damage to the tool.

(5) The uneven working allowance and air hole on the rough surface, and other casting defects are also easy to damage the tool.

(6) The chips of chilled cast iron and wear-resistant alloy cast iron are crumbly, and the instantaneous temperature is high, it should be prevented from falling into the eyes and cause bodily harm to the operator.
