Diamond has been used in cutting for hundreds of years as a super-hard tool material. In the 1970s, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) was synthesized by high-pressure synthesis technology, which solved the problem of rare and expensive natural diamonds and extended the application of diamond tools to aerospace, aerospace, automotive, electronics, stone And many other fields.

PCD hardness is less than natural diamond (HV6000 or so), but the bending strength is much higher than natural diamond. In addition, adjusting the concentration of diamond powder can change the physical and mechanical properties of PCD products to adapt different materials, different processing needs, providing a variety of choices for tool users.

PCD tool is much more impact resistant and shock resistant than natural diamond. Compared with the carbide, the hardness is higher 3-4 times; the life is higher about 50-100 times; cutting speed can be increased 5-20 times; roughness can reach Ra0.05μm. And it is high efficiency and good processing accuracy.

Like natural diamond, PCD is not suitable for processing steel castings. This tool is mainly used for processing non-ferrous metals and non-metallic materials, such as aluminum, copper, zinc, gold, silver, platinum and alloys, as well as ceramics, carbon fiber, rubber, plastics. Another major feature of PCD is the processing of wood and stone.

PCD tool is particularly suitable for processing high-silicon aluminum, so it has been widely used in the automotive, aviation, electronics and shipbuilding industry.
