How To Select The Diamond Grain And Concentration For Grinding Wheels?

1. Diamond Wheel Series:

Artificial diamond is also known as "industrial diamonds". It is the hardest material known in nature, same as natural diamond. Synthetic diamond grinding wheel is made of synthetic diamond as the main raw material and other metal powder through high temperature, high pressure forming to an artificial diamond products. They can be widely used in cemented carbide, nonferrous metal and non-metallic grinding.

2. Diamond grain selection

 The diamond grain is indicated the particle size. The diamond grain directly affects the workpiece surface roughness, grinding efficiency and abrasive tool wear. To meet the requirements in the processing workpiece, the principle of selecting the size is choose to use as coarse grain as possible, which can improve the grinding efficiency and reduce abrasive tool wear. Diamond grain is generally separated. For rough grinding, it should be selected coarse grain, like 30 # -120 #. For medium grinding, it is 120 # -240 #. For fine grinding, it is 240 # -W40. For polishing, it is W40-W1.

3. Bonding agent selection

 According to the different bonding agent, synthetic diamond grinding wheel is generally divided into resin bond grinding wheel, metal bond grinding wheel, vitrified bond grinding wheel and electroplating grinding wheel. Different binding agents have different properties. It is selected suitable bond as per different processing objects, requirements. About binders Code, B (resin bond) is used for cutting and grinding carbide, glass, ceramics, stone and gemstones. M (metal bond) is for hard alloy, glass, ceramics, stone, precious stones etc. V (vitrified bond) is for a variety of steel and cast iron, such as dry grinding and wet grinding. Electroplated grinding wheels are for a variety of materials, special surface grinding of small holes and precious materials.

4. Concentration selection

Concentration refers to the content of synthetic diamond in working layer. Resin bond grinding wheels generally use 50% -100% concentration; Most of them use 75%. If require a higher finish, it can be less than 75%. And require longer life, it can be available 100% or more. Metal bond products generally use 25% -150% concentration. For the coarse-grained cutting blade, the concentration is generally lower that is 25-50%. For fine-grained, the concentration is higher. And other metal bond grinding wheels generally require a concentration of 50% to 100%. In general, it selects a higher concentration for coarse grinding, semi-refined with a moderate concentration. For grinding, polishing, It selects a higher concentration.
